Time to Learn

Credo Project

With four weeks left of school, I have one final project that I want you to complete. As we have been looking at Christian theology for the last few months and as we are coming to an end, I want you to write your own personal theology. I call this a Credo, from the Latin “I believe.”

In this Credo, you will take the 11 sections that we have studied, or will study in the coming weeks, and you will write in simple form (1 paragraph for each section) what your foundational beliefs are on each subject.

Please use any resources you would like for this project such as catechisms, Bible handbooks, theology books, websites, etc. But I would like you to have at least two scripture references for each subject. The subjects are as follows.

  1. The Bible
  2. God
  3. Jesus
  4. Holy Spirit
  5. Creation
  6. Salvation
  7. Sanctification
  8. Good and Evil
  9. The Afterlife
  10. The Church
  11. The Second Coming

The finished product will be due on the last day of school, Friday, May 15th. This gives you nearly a complete month to work on it. Please don’t wait until the last minute to throw something together. This is not about a grade (though it will be graded as a project) it is about you working through what you believe.

If you need help with this project, please let me know. I am here to help you work through this.

    1. To be clear, you aren’t picking one subject. At the end, you should have a paragraph or so on each subject giving you a nice overview of your beliefs.

    1. No intro and conclusion necessary unless you want to add one. Just a short statement of what you believe on each subject with a couple of Bible references to support it. If you do three a week, you will finish on time with no rush.

  1. On the bible section what are we supposed to say about that? Like are we supposed to talk about how we believe it’s true? And why we think that.
Same for Jesus and God are we suppose to just give our belief in what we believe they are? And have scripture to back up our belief. I’m just trying to make sure I do this right.

    1. That’s exactly right. I want you to know what you believe and why you believe it. I’m not grading your beliefs on the project, just the effort you put in. You could say that you believe that God is a myth and that we are all living in the matrix as long as you can tell me why you believe it.
