Time to Learn

Four Views

As we saw earlier this week, we as Christians don’t get the main portion of our beliefs about the second coming of Christ from that sometimes cryptic book at the back of our Bibles. Rather, we allow the whole counsel of God’s word to teach us and we learned from Jesus yesterday, and today we will look at what the rest of the New Testament has to say, specifically Paul who spoke about Jesus’ second coming and the end of the world in 9 of his 13 books.

Then after learning about what Paul teaches, we’ll get a quick overview of the 4 main views on the timing of these events that all revolve around a text in Revelation chapter 20 that speaks of 1000 years, also known as a millennium. I’ve included some helpful charts to visually show the timelines that he is discussing in these 4 views as well as a link to the resources that he references at the end.

Dispensational Premillenialism

Historical Premillennialism

Postmillennialism

Amillennialism

This is a lot of information. Take some time to look at it and then tell me how confused you are in the comments below. My goal was not to confuse you, but to show you that there are varying views on this subject matter within the family, and although some of us may hold strongly to our position, it should not be a point of division among us. I look forward to reading your comments. Have a great weekend.

  1. I learned that there are four views. They are the Dispensation Premillennialism, Historical Premillennialism, Postmillenism and Amillennialism.

  2. I don’t know which one I agree with. I think things will get worse before they get better, and I don’t know if there will be a literal 1000 years before the new heaven and the new earth.

  3. i learned that postmillennial view says that christ has not yet returned. but that he will return soon

  4. historic premillennialism says that there’s two resurrections, with an actual 1000 years between them. I don’t know if it’s God’s 1000 years or our 1000 years, but it sounds ok

  5. personally i beleive in postmillenialism because it relates with my religon and makes the most sense to me

  6. I believe in amillennialism the most out of all the 4 views. Its pretty hard for me to understand the graphs, but it was a lot easier for me to grasp the main points of each view from watching the video you sent.

  7. Yea I agree with Nate. I agree most with amillennialism. the graphs were confusing but the video broke it down really well

  8. I agree with Cate I don’t really know what I agree with because i believe it will be really bad before it gets better, but i don’t know the certain amount of time before Jesus comes back

  9. The charts were hard to understand but the video made it very easy to understand. I learned that Most Christians are Amillenasms and that the Church of Christ also believes in this strongly

    1. Premillennialism
