I remember I read the article about Roman army and that u have to be like 16 I think and u have to join the army even if u didn’t want to. That’s not really fair because I wouldn’t want to risk me life over a stupid war
It isn’t fair that you couldn’t choose whether or not to fight in a war. I am glad the Marius guy made it optional. Also, wow there were a lot of positions in the army.
The mission of Rome was to rule, conquer and civilize. Conquering meant they needed an army, ruling needed law and civilizing needed great buildings. They did have a good army and the citizens were essentially law abiding.
in early rome all able citizens were in the army. auxiliaries were troops raised in other provinces. they told the whole empie what was in the law book.
I personally thin that if you became a soldier you had to do much more than fighting in an army. They were building monuments and doing all sorts of things. I think that they could have had groups to build things so the soldiers could mainly focus on army training.
I didn’t know that the Roman’s camps were so organized. I never really thought about it though. I don’t think the Pax Romana was very peaceful.
Rome’s main purpose was to conquer, rule, and civilize. In early Rome every able bodied man was expected to fight. Every man had to provide his own armor and weapons. This was still a citizen army, by the time of Marius this became a profession.
every abled body would be expected to join the army. they army was divided into cohorts than into centuries. being in the army could make you a roman citizen.
I didnt know roman were so orgqnized. the army was divided by cohorts. and the main objective for rome was to rule
the threefold mission of rome in the world was to conquer, to rule, and to civilize.in the early days of rome every able-bodied citizen had been expected to serve in the army to defend his home and state
yea you get taken to war
