Colossians: Christ is Enough
I wrestled with where to start when you are starting from scratch. At first, I thought that a gospel like Luke might be great to remind everyone who Jesus was and what he did. I also thought about Acts, that church was just getting started and we could see what they did in the power of the newly acquired Holy Spirit. Those are both solid ideas and I will probably get there soon, but my prayers kept leading me back to Colossians.
This little church in a town that had been somewhat forgotten and left behind, Colossae is not Rome, it is small enough that it was overshadowed by Laodicea. Paul has never met these believers and he is writing them words of explanation, encouragement, and exhortation and the central message is that Jesus is enough; enough for our salvation and more than enough for our satisfaction.
So beginning on Sunday, November 18th, we will open the book of Colossians together and begin working through it week by week. I am going to do my best to post my sermon notes or transcript here and I might even have videos. I’m not opposed to technology and all the cool bells and whistles of social media, but I can certainly use the reminder that Christ is enough.
